Bath time by Elizabeth Shaw

I understand now,

why my mum had a bath every night,

the ripples caressing and massaging

her neck as she sank lower,

the weightlessness as problems

disappeared in shape-shifting steam,

submerged and enfolded,

noise muffled,

to

just

her

breath.
